Our inspectors are also trained & certified “MOLD INSPECTORS”. They have been trained to test for mold in homes using the latest air sampling equipment and collection media – “spore traps”. If you or a family member are sensitive to mold you may want to have this service performed by our inspectors for an additional fee.
Basically what we do is take a “background sample” of outside air, and then take multiple samples (at least 2) of inside air. This process will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour in addition to a standard home inspection. These samples are sent to a lab where they will be analyzed for mold. You will receive a detailed report on what has been found in that air within 2-5 business days. Speak with your real estate agent about the timing of this service in your transaction.
Call our office if you have any questions and for specific pricing. One indoor sample should be taken for every 1000 square feet of floor area.

Tech Tip: Basic Mold Cleanup The key to mold control is moisture control. It is important to dry water damaged areas and items within 24-48 hours to prevent mold growth. If mold is a problem in your home, clean up the mold and get rid of the excess water or moisture. Fix leaky plumbing or other sources of water. Wash mold off hard surfaces with detergent and water, and dry completely. Absorbent materials (such as ceiling tiles & carpet) that become moldy may have to be replaced.
